Maria started her legal career in her hometown of Pembroke, Ontario. Prior to joining Carleton Law Group, Maria was a sole practitioner at Conroy Law Office located in Petawawa, Ontario. She credits a chance encounter for her move to Saint John, New Brunswick. She is thrilled to be joining the dynamic team at Carleton Law Group.
Maria combined her passion for travel and focus on education to earn degrees from the University of Ottawa, the University of Leicester, and York University. Maria completed her Master’s in Law at York University in 2011. Maria is currently completing the MBA degree at the University of New Brunswick.
Maria has the capacity to represent clients in three Canadian provinces having been called to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2011, the Law Society of New Brunswick in 2016, and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in 2018. Maria is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Saint John Law Society and the Renfrew County Law Association.
A focus on family law files has enabled Maria to comfortably and confidently represent her clients. With extensive experience in both litigation and interest based negotiations outside of the courtroom, Maria shares the opinion that non-adversarial negotiations are far more beneficial to clients and their families in resolving a separation. Maria is collaboratively trained and takes great satisfaction in the mediation work that she has added to her skill set since joining Carleton Law Group.
